I was a little bit hesitant when I bought my first silicone oven mitt..
I did not know if it’s going to work well, if it really can resist heat etc.. You know, everyone is hesitant when he’s buying something new.
I decided that I will buy it on amazon, it was few years ago and I could not find it in the nearest shops so I thought that amazon is the best choice.
I have chosen almost the cheapest model but still it was more expensive than normal “classic” oven mitt.
After three days my oven mitt was in my post box. I could not wait so I decide to cook something and test my new cooking gadget. It turned out.. that it’s great thing. It was really heat resistant as the said on the amazon website up to 500 degrees F.
I have to say that it’s great when it comes to cleaning it.When my old mitt got dirty it was hard to wash it and it took a lot of time. It had to dry for a long time etc.
And Silicone one ? I can put it in dishwasher and it completely clean after few minutes.
What the next benefit ? When you spill boiling water on you hand with this mitt water will spill it won’t soak it as it would be in normal item.
So if you like to cook Chinese food in deep fry silicone oven mitt will save you from hot oil and burning your hand.
Because it’s made from silicone it’s non-porous and very hygienic.
The only disadvantage is that it’s a little bit bulky on your hand. But I have already seen models that are three fingered. Price can be another disadvantage but they are cheaper and cheaper with the time.
Of course you can choose any color you want. They are almost all available in any color.
What’s best it’s so resistant that you can use it even in you garage or anywhere else where you can find hot or boiling things.
I really recommend you silicone oven mitts, for me they’r the best thing invented for cooks in past few years.
